“Disgusting and Vile”: Hollywood Explodes After Trump’s Shocking Message About Rob Reiner

As tributes poured in from across Hollywood and the political world, one post cut through the grief — and ignited outrage nationwide.
An Outpouring of Love — Until One Voice Stood Apart
Tons of famous figures have since shared moving tributes toward Rob and Michele, including the Obamas, Kamala Harris, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom. But amid the outpouring of grief across Hollywood and beyond, US President Donald Trump shared a “disgusting” message about Rob, who was an outspoken political activist.
Rob was a vocal champion of causes like same-sex marriage, and he was openly critical of Trump. He said just a few months ago, “It’s really gotten to a very, very scary place in this country, and we’re going to have to figure out how to dig ourselves out of this before it’s too long. But we have got to keep speaking out. Everybody has to keep speaking out.”
Trump’s Post That Sparked Immediate Backlash
“A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS,” Trump wrote in part.
The reaction was swift — and furious.

Doubling Down Instead of Backing Off
To make matters worse, Trump actually doubled down amid criticism of his post, stating in a press conference, “Well, I wasn’t a fan of his at all. He was a deranged person, as far as Trump was concerned…I think he hurt himself, career-wise. He became like a deranged person — Trump Derangement Syndrome. So I was not a fan of Rob Reiner at all, in any way, shape, or form. I thought he was very bad for our country.”
‘The View’ Responds in Real Time
Rightfully, the backlash against Trump has been rife. The cohosts of The View expressed their disgust over the Truth post in real time, with Ana Navarro stating, “There’s an American family grieving. This is a tragedy, not just for the family, but for all who knew and loved him, and for the president of the United States to make this about him as a way to attack Rob Reiner, because he exercised his American right to speak up with what he disagreed with, is shameful. It is disgraceful. And of all the disgusting things that Donald Trump has done, this is right up there.”
Celebrities Speak Out: ‘There Is No Low That Is Too Low’
Singer Jack White wrote on Instagram, “Trump you disgusting, vile, egomaniac, loser, child. Neither he nor any one of his followers can defend this gross, horrible insult to a beautiful artist who gave the world so much. To use someone’s tragic death to promote your own vanity and fascist authoritarian agenda is a corrupt and narcissistic sin. Shame on you trump and anyone who defends this. God bless you Rob Reiner and thank you for what you gave the world. I never even met you and I still stand by you.”
Actor Josh Gad said on Threads, “There is no low that is too low for this fucking psychopath. Rob Reiner was 1000 times the man you are and unlike you, he actually cared about the American people. Go paint your hand on your gold fucking toilet and destroy things like the White House. That’s what you do best.”
Meanwhile, Patrick Schwarzenegger wrote in response to Trump’s post, “What a disgusting and vile statement.”

Jimmy Kimmel’s Blistering Monologue
What’s more, Jimmy Kimmel addressed Trump’s post and press conference message on the latest episode of his talk show. “What we need in a time like this, besides common sense when it comes to guns and mental healthcare, is compassion and leadership. We did not get that from our president because he has none of it to give. Instead, we got a fool rambling about nonsense,” Jimmy began.
“Just when you think he can’t go any lower, he somehow finds a way to do that. His description of what happened, of course, is not at all what happened, and this is exactly what I’ve spoken about before, this rush to pin the tail on the donkey in pursuit of the Trump-friendly narrative, not to mention blaming his death on the fact that he is an outspoken liberal, insulting someone who’s just been murdered, who leaves children behind, without having any idea of what actually happened,” he said.

‘Nothing Is Ever Too Much for Him’
“It’s so hateful and vile. When I first saw it, I thought it was fake. My wife showed it to me this morning. I was like, well, even for him, that seemed like too much, but nothing is ever too much for him,” Jimmy continued.
The late-night host added, “That corroded brain is in charge of our lives. If you voted for that, it’s OK to reconsider. It’s perfectly fine. And I have to say, I know from my personal interactions with Rob Reiner that he would want us to keep pointing out the loathsome atrocities that continue to ooze out of this sick and irresponsible man’s mouth, and so we’re gonna do that over and over again until the rest of us wake up.”
